Top 30: Jimmie Johnson wasn?t perfect, but five-time champ was close enough

His average finishing position was his worst since 2005. The last time he won fewer races in a season was 2006. And he spent 29 weeks chasing the points leader rather than being chased. But when the checkered flag fell in the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, none of that mattered. For yet another record-breaking time, a fifth time in fact, Jimmie Johnson was NASCAR?s Sprint Cup champion.
